Early in January, after the newness of 2019 had worn off, I took a drive down to Colorado Springs to take some photographs. The first place we stopped was Glen Eyrie Castle, and the sky could not have been more perfect. I was able to take a bunch of great pictures, while at the same time enjoying a warmer-than-usual January afternoon.

Victor, Colorado
After lunch at the castle’s cafĂ©, we continued west on highway 24 to Divide, Colorado before heading south to Victor. There was some old mining apparatus that we wanted to photograph, but the skies weren’t cooperating.
Blue Skies
After losing $20 at the Cripple Creek casino, we headed back to Colorado Springs and checked into the Academy Inn. Unsuspecting from the outside, it’s actually a quite nice hotel. About 30 minutes after we got to our rooms, the hotel lost power along with the rest of the block. Made for an interesting evening; I’m actually pretty decent at billiards by headlamp.
The following morning, we headed to a rock formation to take advantage of Colorado’s famous blue sky. Not a bad way to spent 24 hours!
